Dear community members,
We all have days when we don’t feel like getting out of bed, (those days are to be expected) but staying active is important for our physical and mental well-being. In times where we don’t feel like doing anything, we can “act our way into feeling” by just finding something to do, and once we start doing something we will often start to feel better.
Here are a few tips to help motivate yourself when you’re feeling low:
Start small:
Instead of thinking about the big picture, focus on taking small steps towards your goal. Whether it’s getting out of bed, going for a walk, or doing a small task, every small accomplishment can help to boost your motivation.
Break it down:
Break down large tasks into smaller, more manageable parts. This can make it feel more achievable and less overwhelming.
Get moving:
Physical activity has been proven to help boost mood, energy and motivation. Even small movements like stretching, or going for a short walk can help you feel better.
Connect with others:
Connecting with loved ones or friends can help to boost motivation and provide a sense of support and accountability.
Keep things positive:
Surround yourself with positive and encouraging people, whether it’s friends, family, or even quotes or photos that inspire you.
Remember, motivation is different for everyone, and it’s normal for it to fluctuate.
If you are feeling like you lack motivation or are feeling down emotionally, you may benefit from our behavioral health sessions. These sessions are designed to help people be proactive about their mental and emotional health, and can be especially beneficial during hard times. Just ask one of our Virtare Health team members about behavioral health sessions.
Take care and stay well.
